Horrorscopes for April 2016
by Zack Kouns
Aries (March 21-April 19) -
We begin to see our children in every Child. Before this, we can’t dream of feeding the hungry and clothing the naked.
Taurus (April 20-May 20) -
An empty bed. A shadow passes across it, a women holding her head in her hands. She says something out loud into the grief and into the startling silence of this world but you can’t understand her. To heal and to be healed you’ll need to discover what she said and what prevents you from hearing her.
Gemini (May 21-June 21) -
Trees in the late winter. Kneeling down on the frozen winter earth, listening to prairie grass howling with age. Where are we? A house that is trying to stay empty? Or standing on the undiscovered shore, startled by its everlasting newness?
Cancer (June 22-July 22) -
He hands you a harp with a carving of a child growing new teeth and you ask him a question but he turns from you and doesn’t reply.
Leo (July 23-August 22) -
Following this tender, plant like call that’s so otherworldly you feel like it’s something inside you crying out toward the bright morning sky.
Virgo (August 23-September 22) -
Your lover stands in the damp fields after a rain and calls out to You. But who will go to her, since she’s yearning for You but you will follow yourself there?
Libra (September 23-October 23) -
Immensity is our true estate. We move toward our end and discover the impossibility of ending.
Scorpio (October 24-November 21) -
Climbing up steps scattered with rocks and salt. There’s been a long, steady frost this winter. Candles have replaced the sun in our hearths and we have learned to trust the light, no matter what darkness it has emerged from.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21) -
You dreamt of your father holding you in his arms. Carrying you through the desert. When we shudder and collapse with thirst we learn what truly sustains us.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19) -
A solitary deathless bird, tremendous in size, emerges from her perch, extends her shivering wings in the dark January night and migrates toward a more habitable climate. If we’re careful and courageous enough to listen to her call as she passes, she’ll teach us how to not foul our nests and how to make our trees worthy of such a rare and noble creature.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18) -
The garden yields fruit without praise, but not without praising, in it’s own wordless way, the Graceful Hand that guides its roots and tendrils to gather vitality and strength from the earth and sky.
Pisces (February 19-March 20) -
The Guest who sleeps in your bed and in a single night teaches you to long for Beauty and search for Joy isn’t meant to stay. How could He stay, since He’s everywhere?
